A Letter from a MS3 Alumni

Mr. Braun,

I was looking on the South High website and I saw the MS3 section. There was a tab asking if any alumni wanted to email in and talk about their experiences in MS3 and so I thought I would bestow some knowledge on the future cubers from the college stand point.

First of all, college is a completely different beast no matter what you think, learn good study skills now. I think that was the biggest change I saw between college and high school, I like to think that I was a good student in high school, I did pretty well and I cant say I ever remember studying more than 30 minutes for any class, but when you get to college, well that’s just not going to do it. There might not be any collected homework, but they definitely make up for it on the test. I know you already know this but no one ever believes teachers, so maybe you will take it from me. The second thing I would say is try and pass every AP test you take, study hard, I'd much rather of already had the units than had to take them in college because the AP test is not any harder than a college midterm. Oh and btw, whoever sits in the 3rd seat back in the second row from your lab room in your Honors class, that was my seat, so I expect them to keep up to my standards! : )

All jokes aside I thought I would say hello and check back in with you (Mr. Braun). I learned a lot in your class and if it wasn't for everything you taught me chemistry wise, my last year and a quarter would have been a nightmare. I didn't always feel like I was good enough to set the curve in most of my classes but I set the curve twice in chemistry this quarter and I might get the chance to TA next quarter. Tell these kids that if they pay attention they may actually learn something and in the long run it’s going to make their college lives a lot easier.
